About
Hello - Tin Time is a one man show for now. I built this because I love tinned fish and for years now I've just been lazily tracking what tins i've eaten in a note on my phone. I wanted there to be a like, Letterboxd or Good Reads for tinned fish. So here we are. I am sure there are many bugs in the site, or issues I haven't anticipated. Please report them if you see them.
I began working on this project in April 2026 after having the idea in the back of my head for almost a year. My goal in setting this up was to make something that was sustainable, and had a low cost to run. Eg, I would like to be able to just have this site running and not have it impact my personal budget in a significant way. The site is still new, so I'm not sure how much it costs to run it for a month, or a year, and outside of basic estimations I don't know precisely how well it'll scale if more folks decide to use it. Tin Time is free.
Some background: My name is Tony and I'm from Texas. I also run texascollegesalaries.com, which is an open database of public university salaries in Texas. I used to work at a university, and the Texas Tribune used to publish all salaries but stopped. So in 2020 I started that.
